In Washington Park you can visit the Portland Japanese Garden and the world-famous International Rose Test Garden. There’s plenty on offer in the way of the performing arts, be it classical music, jazz, pop or the theatre. It might also be a memorable experience to go to one of Portland’s beer-serving movie theatres showing second-run or revival films – “brew and view”.

The Portland Art Museum, one of the United States’ 25 largest museums, has a diverse and noteworthy selection on display. You will also find many art galleries in the city’s Pearl District. We recommend a visit to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), whose exhibits include the USS Blueback submarine, featured in the film The Hunt for Red October.

Beer aficionados should visit at least one of the 28 breweries in Portland. The city is well-known for its microbrewery beer and has been dubbed a candidate for the beer capital of the world. It boasts more breweries than any other US city.

From Portland you can go on short or longer trips to the nearby Columbia County, Mt. Hood Territory or Washington County – with their serene natural and agricultural settings and a myriad of noteworthy attractions. These are havens for outdoor enthusiasts, offering breath taking scenery and small-town appeal.
